Stange Manor On a Summer Day

Stange Manor

A front view of Stange Manor in the Spring. It's on an acre with lots of lawn, walnut trees and roses. It is truly a mansion!

Living Room

The Living Room

(Just small part of it, actually)
This is a great gathering place in the evening. Some people talk, some watch TV or a movie, and some read. There's lots of reading material here and throughout the house.

Dining Room

The Dining Room

Perhaps the best part of B&B'ing is the breakfast conversations. Breakfast is served between 6:30 - 9:00 a.m.

Guest Room

The Guest Room

This room has a view of both the rose garden and the main lawn, plus its own bath and the queen bed seen here. The story is that Bing Crosby stayed here when he visited the Stange's.

Maid's Room

The Maid's Room

This queen-bedded room is a favorite of many. It has its own bath, an angled wall, seven doors (one to the attic) and a very small auxiliary room with a twin bed (not pictured). It has a balcony, too.

Master Bedroom

The Master Bedroom

The Master Bedroom is actually two bedrooms, the main queen bed room pictured here and another room, equally large, that has two twin beds. The bathroom opens off the main room. Both rooms overlook the main lawn.

Master Bedroom Twin Beds

Master Bedroom Twin Beds

This room is part of the Master Suite and includes two antique twin beds in a room that has an Oriental theme. Two of the walls in the room have continuous windows that face north and east with views of Mt Emily and the valley.

Fireplace Suite

The Fireplace Suite

The Fireplace Suite has three rooms, two bedrooms (Ann's & Jane's), plus the central sitting room, a part of which is shown here. The Suite's bedrooms and its bath open off this central room.

Ann's Room

Ann's Room

Ann's Room, part of the Fireplace Suite, has a queen bed with a canopy. This is the newlyweds favorite room.

Jane's Room

Jane's Room

August and Priscilla Stange, who built the house, had two daughters, Jane & Ann. This room, which is also part of the Fireplace Suite, is named for the older daughter. It has two antique twin beds and continuous windows on the two outside walls.

Stange Manor With Spring Snow

The Staircase

The staircase to the upstairs rooms is a favorite with everyone. The design and wood work makes this a true masterpiece.

Sun Room

Sun Room

Relax in a room of plants and three walls of windows by reading a good book, listening to the fountain, or just watch the world pass by.

Fall Color

Fall Colors at Stange Manor

Fall in the Grande Ronde Valley is colorful. La Grande itself has lots of deciduous trees. Before the leaves drop it's beautiful, after there're down it's fun to walk through them on the sidewalks -- often six inches deep!

Winter snows can make the landscape quite spectacular!
